Living rooms are usually the single biggest furniture purchase in a home, and the range is wide. Here's how we'd break it down based on what we actually sell.
Budget tiers
- Under $2,000 — a sofa or loveseat, one coffee or side table, often the starting point for a first apartment.
- $2,000–$5,000 — a sectional or sofa + accent chair, coffee table, and a TV stand or media console. The most common full-room budget we see.
- $5,000–$10,000 — a larger modular sectional, multiple accent pieces, rugs, and lighting — a complete, considered room.
- $10,000+ — premium materials throughout, custom configurations, and full styling down to the accessories.
What moves the number most
Seating size is the biggest factor — a 5-piece modular sectional costs significantly more than a simple 3-seat sofa, independent of fabric quality. After that, fabric (performance velvet vs. basic linen) and frame material make the next-biggest difference.
Don't forget delivery
Sectionals especially are not a one-person job to move — most customers add White Glove delivery, which runs $75-$250 depending on the piece and your ZIP code, and includes full assembly and placement.
